Spring in Naples
Spring is the ideal season to experience artistic and cultural excursions in Naples. For the past several years, the month of May celebrates the cultural and artistic treasures of the ancient city by sponsoring the “Monuments of May” or “Open Door Monuments” initiative. Historic sites, landmarks and museums otherwise closed become available for public vision complete with guided tours and extended hours. For equestrian lovers – the famous Piazza del Plebiscito undergoes a metamorphosis to host the “International Equestrian Competition.”

Summer in Naples
Absolute protagonists of a Neapolitan summer are the sea, the gardens and many wide open spaces transformed to accommodate sporting events, concerts and theatrical productions (cabaret and outdoor film projections).

Autumn in Naples
The mild climate coupled with the bustling city life make autumn the perfect season to discover another façade of Naples consisting of superstitions, enchantment and esoteric mysteries; the Catacombes of San Gennaro (patron Saint of Naples) and of San Gaudioso, the ruins of San Lorenzo Maggiore, the church of the Souls of Purgatory and the Chapel of San Severo are just a few examples. Highly recommended is a guided tour of “Napoli Sotteranea” or “Naples Underground” and not to be missed are the events organized for the annual “Notte Bianca” or “White Night” inaugurated with success in 2005.

Winter in Naples
The sun always shines in Naples – even in winter. Walking through the heart of the historic center becomes a pleasurable experience where one can discover streets full of shops owned by artisans who are busy at work creating the figurines used to assemble the traditional presepe for the Christmas season. The greatest concentration of these shops is found on the historic street of San Gregorio Armeno where Christmas decorations can be purchased all year round.
On New Year’s eve the bay of Naples is illuminated by a spectacular fireworks display followed by a traditional concert enjoyed by young and old alike in Piazza Plebiscito.
